Less Noise; More Focus

It is now 2020 and I feel like 2019 was a bit of a clusterf*ck for me. I’ve gone down that path of negativity in a couple of posts, so there is no need to bring it up again.

It’s a new day. A new month. A new year. A new decade.

Let’s make it a good one.

In my 30s, I felt more focused. I would pick a project (new job, new volunteer opportunity, new hobby, whatever) and I stuck to it, until I knew the ins and outs of it. I was focused. I pushed out the noise. I was able to succeed.

In my 40s, I feel like I’m just trying to staying afloat – and I am sinking a bit. OK, so we’re going a little negative, but I’ll bring it back…I swear I will. πŸ™‚ In the past year, I took myself out of activities that didn’t make me feel good (being on the condo board, etc.), to help focus, but I am struggling more and more. Even as I write this post, I have several half-written emails that are open that I need to finish.

I will finish those emails. After this post. Focus people, focus.

One thing I accomplished last year that I am incredibly proud of is the fact I lost 20+ pounds. It was unexpected, but one day I looked down at the scale and did not like the number that looked back up at me. So I quickly – and without really planning – took that number back. I contacted my friend who is a coach – got on a better eating plan and really looked at my workout habits. I am now putting better fuel in my body and doing yoga 2-3x/week. I wish it were more, but I’ll take what I can get and I’m getting good results.

So this year, I need to take that same focus and apply it to other activities. Namely finding a new fit for me in my career and focus on blogging here twice/week. Those are my two goals for the year. I want to make this blog the best it can be and I need to find a focus to make that happen.

What is your focus for 2020? Would love to hear it!
